I realize that my account has once again gone quiet. I've been busy studying over the summer, and I'm currently back in college. With Organic Chemistry now on my plate, it's forcing me to study harder than before. I will, however, be updating with occasional photos I've taken recently.

The first set will most likely be the photos I took at the 9/11 Memorial this past weekend. I was lucky to get a reservation for the memorial, especially since it just opened last week. Every other available day in September and October was booked.

It really was a beautiful sight, but seeing the families placing flowers on the names and sketching their names on paper was pretty heart-wrenching to see as well.

It's going to take me a long time to post-process the vast amount of RAW files I have (I filled an 8GB card). Heck, it'll take me a while to get past the college workload to get to post-processing my photos. Stay tuned, though. I promise to bring some beautiful photos soon :)

Hey worldnewser I really appreciate all of the photos you recently posted for the 9/11 memorial. I wasn't personally involved - I didn't know anyone who was killed there, but it's affected me nevertheless.

You did a wonderful job of capturing the tone and mood of the place - your shots are wonderful and I thank you for them!

Of course. I think 9/11 affected everyone around the world, regardless of personal connection. I think that showing sentimental shots will help people see the memorial as more than just some tourist spot/pretty fountains in downtown Manhattan...which I feel some of the visitors to the site thought, judging by how some people with video cameras acted. I want to show how 9/11 is still a part of people's lives, even if they don't notice it in their daily lives. We move forward, but it stays with us.

That's a good perspective, I completely agree. Not one of mockery, and not one of suppression - but rather, one of acceptance and respect.
